Power and simplicity.
That is the goal of the ::mound:: project. Most systems for managing software projects are overly complex and try to do too much, but no one thing particularly well. This is where ::mound:: is different. ::mound:: provides simple project management with tons of power, but stays out of the way. It is a free and open source project that anyone can download and enjoy.

NOTE: ::mound:: is no longer under active development. Use at your own risk or fork it and have fun!

Check out this whitepaper on the benefits of ::mound::...

FreeFree and Open Source
::mound:: is 100% free and Open Source code written in PHP with a MySQL back-end.  It is released under the GPL license, which makes it free for personal, commercial or academic use.  When similar products require a monthly fee or an upfront investment in the thousands of dollars, ::mound::'s easy and open licensing make it a strong competitor.

FreeManage Development Workflow
With ::mound:: you have options for managing your project pipeline. From breaking tickets into three types (Projects, Tasks and Bugs) to grouping tickets into Release Containers for easy management, ::mound:: has the development pipeline under control.

FreeManage Project Deliverables
Every ticket in ::mound::, whether it be a bug, task or project, allows for uploading of project attachments and deliverables. This helps to manage project scope, specification and even small scripts and code. There is no limit to the number of files on a ticket and all ticket attachments are aggregated at the release level.
FreeTrack Time
Time tracking is part of every ticket and time estimation is a dimension of every ticket. This allows for time-based completion calculations on every project.

FreeSimple Evaluation
Ever get tired of trying to figure out what projects are most important, create the most value or can be done the quickest?  With ::mound:: all tickets have dimensions for urgency, business value and complexity. These are 1 to 10 ratings that allow for a quick and easy overall project rating system to help determine which projects allow developers to live up to their highest and best use.

FreeCommunicate
Most software development management systems have a tracking feed to show what everyone is up to. Like all good things, tracking feeds are good in moderation, but often have so much useless information users stop bothering to read them. That is why ::mound:: includes a quick and simple way for developers to easily post their status when it actually matters.
